About Me
Welcome to my corner of the internet. I'm an instructional designer and project manager based in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. Like many others, I stumbled into the field of instructional design "accidentally." In my previous role working in ad tech, I was knee-deep in managing projects that involved creating and facilitating training on processes and platforms. I often asked myself, "How can I present this in a way that won't make people yawn or zone out?" Or, "Am I explaining these features simply enough that the user would understand?"
After attending grad school to study Learning Design and Technology, specifically adult pedagogical methodologies, learning technologies, and learning experience design, I found that there's a lot more to think about than just the two questions I asked above. It's not about creating flashy presentations or simplifying content. It's about understanding the holistic learning experience: Who is the target audience? What prior skills or knowledge do they have? How do they learn? What motivates them? What factors affect their learning or performance? ...And that's just the starting point! There's so much involved when it comes to creating an effective learning solution.
Today, I blend my project management skills with instructional design expertise to produce learning experiences that educate and engage learners. I believe the learning experience is as much about the journey as it is about the end goal.
In my spare time, you can find me planning my next trip to a national park.
Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the internet!
